The Township of Essa is older than Canada itself. Named after the daughter of an Indian Chief, Essa was first surveyed in 1820. The year 2000 marked the 150th Anniversary of the Township.

Essa is an urban/rural mix and truly a place where Town and Country meet. It is located about an hour's drive north of Toronto, in the heart of the County of Simcoe, in the Province of Ontario, Canada.
