Nominations

Commencing January 2, 2014 at 8:30 a.m. and running until September 12, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., candidates interested in running for office in the 2014 Municipal Election can file their nomination papers with the Clerk at the Township of Essa's Administration Centre located at 5786 County Road 21, Utopia ON. 

Notice of Nominations (Advertisement)

The term of office for successful candidates running in the 2014 Election is December 1, 2014 to November 30, 2018.

Offices available for election in the 2014 Municipal Election include the following:

  • Mayor* - one to be elected at large by eligible electors
  • Deputy Mayor* - one to be elected at large by eligible electors
  • Councillor Ward 1 (Angus) - one to be elected by eligible electors in Ward 1
  • Councillor Ward 2 (Colwell, Egbert, Ivy, Thornton) - one to be elected by eligible electors in Ward 2
  • Councillor Ward 3 (Baxter) - one to be elected by eligible electors in Ward 3

*Please be advised that successful candidates elected to Mayor and Deputy Mayor positions are automatically elected to serve as a member of the Simcoe County Council.  An Information Sheet outlining responsibilities to County Council has been included in the Township of Essa's Candidate's Information Package.

School Board Trustees

  • English Public District School Board (Simcoe County District School Board) - one to be elected by eligible public school electors of the municipality
  • English Separate District School Board (Simcoe Muskoka District School Board) - one to be elected by eligible separate school electors of the municipality
  • French Public District School Board (Conseil Scolaire de District Centre-Sud-Ouest) - one to be elected by eligible french public school electors of the municipality
  • French Separate District School Board (Conseil Scolaire de District Catholique Centre-Sud) - one to be elected by eligible french separate school electors of the municipality
