CAO's Department
The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) is the
individual appointed by Council as the senior official of the Township
responsible for providing strategic vision and effective leadership to the whole
organization, and is the administrative representative to the community. As well, the CAO is responsible for making
recommendations to Council on a broad range of policies, strategic and
administrative issues, and for ensuring that Council’s directions and decisions
are effectively operationalized.
The Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)
is primarily responsible for directing the overall planning, coordination and
control of all municipal operations in accordance with the objectives, policies
and plans approved by Council and relevant legislation. The CAO is accountable for effective
utilization of the corporation’s financial, physical and human resources in the
delivery of services to the Township’s residents and businesses in a manner
that is consistent with the service standards that have been approved within
the annual budgets.
The
CAO oversees the day-to-day operations of the Township through seven separate
departments, and coordinates the administrative interaction with various operating
agencies. Responsibilities include
recommending the Current and Capital Budgets, approving items for Council
agenda, and dealing with personnel matters. The CAO implements administrative
direction for major projects that involve several departments, as well as other such
duties that Council may require.
