  • Take Notice that a public meeting is scheduled to take place on December 20, 2017 at the Township of Essa Administration Centre (5786 County Road 21, Utopia) commencing at approximately 6:00 p.m.

    The purpose of the public meeting is to review an application for a proposed Zoning By-Law Amendment for the property known as 8716 County Road 56.

  • Take Notice that a public meeting is scheduled to take place on December 20, 2017 at the Township of Essa Administration Centre (5786 County Road 21, Utopia) commencing at approximately 7:00 p.m.

    The purpose of the public meeting is to review an application for a proposed Zoning By-Law Amendment for the property known as 18 King St, Angus.​


  • The next regularly scheduled meeting of Council will be held in Council Chambers on December 20, 2017 starting at 6:00 p.m.
  • Please be advised that a Special Meeting of Council has been scheduled to take place in Council Chambers at the Township of Essa Administration Centre (5786 County Road 21, Utopia ON) on the following dates:

    December 20, 2017 - starts at 5:00 pm

    The purpose of the meetings is for 2018 Budget Deliberations.​
  • The Township of Essa has a new burning by-law that allows for recreational/camp fire, open air burning and open air burning with an inspection.

    No person(s) or owners(s) of land shall set a fire or permit the setting of a fire without first having obtained an authorized burn permit.  Burning must be in accordance with the Open Air Burning By-law 2015-92 or subsequent by law.   A permit shall not be issued in a settlement area with clearance of less than 15 feet/5 metre from any structure.

    Permit is valid until the end of each calendar year at a cost of $25.00.  Burn Permits (except for those that require an inspection) can be obtained on-line by going to on-line registration.   Permits can also be obtained from the Township Administration Centre, upstairs, during regular business hours.

  • It has been reported to the Township of Essa that there are individuals offering to test the water in the homes of residents and implying or suggesting that these individuals are affiliated with the Ontario Clean Water Agency on behalf of the Township of Essa. Neither the Ontario Clean Water Agency nor the Township of Essa is affiliated with any individuals or companies offering to test the water in your home.

     

    Any Township or Ontario Clean Water Agency representatives visiting your house will have appropriate identification and residents are advised to request such identification.

     

    Some points to remember should you choose to open your door to a salesperson:

    • Do not invite the person(s) inside.
    • Do not sign any documents under pressure.
    • If you are not interested in what is being offered or if they use aggressive tactics, ask them to leave your property, if you are suspicious, immediately report the incident to police (the non-emergency number of the Nottawasaga OPP is 1-888-310-1122).
