Township of Essa does not remove wildlife from private property. Pests such as raccoons, skunks, foxes and any
other wild animal found on private property should be removed with the
assistance of a pest control specialist or a Wildlife Rehabilitator.
The Township of Essa strongly discourages feeding wildlife such as raccoons, skunks, foxes etc. Native wildlife need nature's diet to be healthy. Feeding wildlife can lead to wildlife becoming aggressive towards people and pets.
Living with Wildlife
The Ontario Government has released several informational documents on protecting your property from wildlife and living with wildlife.
What to do if you find a sick, injured or abandoned wild animal
If residents find a sick or injured wild animal on private property, it is the property owner's responsibility to have the animal removed. When a wild animal is found on private property, do not confine the animal unless directed by a authorized wildlife rehabilitator to do so.
