Municipal Elections

• First day to file Nomination Papers for the Offices of Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Councillor and School Board Trustee
  • to be provided to the candidate upon the filing of Nomination Papers:
    • Preliminary Spending Limits (s.33.0.1 of MEA)
    • Preliminary Contribution Limits (s.33.0.2 of MEA)
    • Notice of Penalties related to campaign finances and the refund of the Nomination Filing Fee (s.33.1 of MEA)
    • Copy of procedures and forms established for any voting and vote-counting equipment or alternative voting method(s.42)3)) - only if applicable
      
      
• First day to file Notice of Registration as a Third Party Advertiser
  • to be provided upon the filing by a registered third party:
    • Preliminary Spending Limits (s.88.21(15))
    • Preliminary Spending Limit for parties, etc., after voting day (s.88.21(15))

Deadline for candidates to:

• File a Nomination (between the hours of 9:00 am to 2:00 pm only)
• Withdraw a Nomination (before 2:00 pm)

If applicable, Lame Duck Period commences (Restricted Acts for Council)

• Official List of Certified Candidates to be posted after 4:00 pm
• Declarations of Acclamation to Office to be posted after 4:00 pm

• Preliminary List of Electors to be released
• Vote-by-Proxy form to be made available

• First day to post election campaign signs
  • Deposit is required to be paid to municipality PRIOR to any signs being posted
  • All signs and the posting of such within the Township must adhere to the Election Campaign Sign By-law

• Interim list of changes to the Voters' List to be provided to certified candidates (last day to be received is September 26, 2022 per s.27(1) of MEA)

• To be provided to Certified Candidates:
  • Final certificate of applicable maximum expenses (s.88.20(6))
  • Final certificate of applicable maximum amount of contributions to candidate's own election campaign (s.88.9.1(4))
  • Final certificate of applicable maximum amount for parties, etc., after Voting Day (s.88.20(9))
• To be provided to Registered Third Parties:
  • Final certificate of applicable maximum expenses (s.88.21(14))
  • Final certificate of applicable maximum amount for parties, etc., after Voting Day (s.88.21(14))

• Last day for Council to establish a Compliance Audit Committee for the 2022-26 term of office (s.88.37(1))

• Last day to register as a third party advertiser (s.88.6(7))

ELECTION DAY!! 

Voting Places open at 10:00 am and close promptly at 8:00 pm

• Declare as soon as possible the results and provide the information to the public on the number of votes cast, declined and rejected ballots

• Term of New Council commences 

• Inaugural Meeting of Council
