Administrative Monetary Penalty System

The Township of Essa has implemented an Administrative Monetary Penalty System (AMPS) to complement its Automated Speed Enforcement Program (ASE).

AMPS has been implemented to assist residents with achieving a resolution in a timely manner as opposed to infractions being filtered through the Provincial Offences Court.

If you would like to speak to a staff member with respect to a Penalty Order or you have questions about Essa's Automated Speed Enforcement Program please contact us at 1-877-748-1025.

AMPS is otherwise known as an Administrative Monetary Penalty (AMP) System. It is a financial penalty that is imposed by a regulatory body for a contravention of a law or a requirement.  An AMP is a flexible enforcement tool used by municipalities to obtain compliance.

For options available to those whom receive a Penalty Order through our ASE Program are outlined on Penalty Order webpage to find out your options.

1. You can either pay the ticket;  or

2. You can request a review of the Penalty Order by a Screening Officer.  You have 30 days from the time the Penalty Order is issued to request a meeting.  Screening Officer reviews are held virtually on pre-determined dates.

If you are unsatisfied with the decision of the Screening Officer, you can request a review of the Screening Decision to the Hearing Officer.  The Hearing Officer's decision is final.
