May 6, 2022 – After two years of virtual meetings following the COVID-19 Pandemic, the municipality is pleased to inform residents that at its meeting of May 4, 2022, Council announced that they will be returning to in-person meetings starting with the Committee of the Whole and Regular Council meetings scheduled on May 18, 2022. As a result of the return to in-person meetings, the livestreaming of virtual Committee of the Whole and Regular Council meetings will be discontinued. The transition of Council from virtual to in-person meetings follows the easing of provincial restrictions that were imposed as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

If members of the public wish to attend to watch and/or participate in Council meetings, they can do so by attending, in person, in the Council Chambers of the Administration Centre located at 5786 County Road 21, Utopia on the scheduled date of the meeting. The schedule for Committee of the Whole and Regular Council meetings is available to the public for viewing on the Events and Meetings Calendar of the Township’s website at

The health and safety of residents, businesses, Council and staff remains a key priority of the municipality for the return to in-person meetings. As such, the municipality will endeavour to implement its own best practices and measures based upon the advice and guidance provided by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit. If provincial, public health, and occupational health and safety regulations and guidelines evolve, updates to municipal services may be imposed and will be communicated by the municipality on its website.

Essa Township Council and staff are looking forward to seeing you in-person soon!
