Winter Parking Updates

Please be advised that Winter Parking Restrictions are in effect, November 1st to May 1st each year. During this period, vehicles are not permitted to be parked on the roads, over a sidewalk or on any municipal boulevard, even if there is no snow. Violators may be ticketed or towed.

Snow Removal

Essa provides winter road maintenance—plowing, sanding, and salting based on assigned road priority levels. Each road, street, and sidewalk is categorized for snow-clearing purposes:

• Category I (1st Priority): Arterial roads such as Sideroads, 5th Line, 10th Line, Scotch Line, Cecil St., Centre St., King St., Elizabeth St., and Margaret St. in Angus.
• Category II (2nd Priority): Non-arterial roads, cleared after Category I. During ongoing snowfall, crews focus on Category I to keep major routes safe for emergency vehicles.

Essa Public Library News 

• Learn or practice a language at any age with Essa Public Library: English & French conversation circles for adults, or 110 languages on the Transparent Language app with your library card.
• Practicing with little ones? Join us for story times for preschoolers in French and Spanish. Keep the fun going at home with the Lote4Kids app, a collection of thousands of picture books in over 85 languages with audio narration and interactive games.
• Are you a parent/caregiver looking for a space to get creative and meet up with your community? Join us for a baby-friendly grown-up night out, Sign up online.

Planning & Building News

• On November 5, 2025, the Planning Department held a non-statutory public meeting on an Interim Control By-law (ICBL) related to water and wastewater constraints in the settlement of Angus. The ICBL will be submitted to Council for consideration at a future date.
• The Planning Department held its second Public Information Centre (PIC) on the New Official Plan on November 12, 2025. A Draft of the New Official Plan text and schedules can be found at www.essatownship.on.ca/official-plan-review/.
• Based on stakeholder comments and technical reviews, further revisions will be made to the Draft Official Plan and presented at future public events.

Recycling Collection Update – Effective January 1, 2026

• Recycling will still be collected on the same day and using the same carts.
• It will now be picked up by Emterra Environmental Inc.

• Recycling collection does not include Industrial, Commercial & Institutional (IC&I) properties such as small businesses, Churches and places of worship, Municipal buildings, Food banks, most not-for-profit organizations.
• New residents: Please contact the County of Simcoe to order recycling, organics, and garbage carts.
