Emergency Simple Building Permit Applications

The Building Department is accepting simple building permit applications for this emergency snow accumulation situation. As you receive the appropriate paperwork from the different agencies or engineers involved with your repair, you can simply forward the paperwork to the building department and we will review these documents as your repair paperwork progresses.

Winter Maintenance and Operations

The Township of Essa has received a significant amount of snow this winter. Staff have been working diligently at plowing, sanding and salting in order to keep roads and sidewalks open and safe for the public. As weather allows, staff is working on snow removal to reduce snowbanks to keep the streets clear and passable for residents and emergency vehicles.

Flood Forecasting and Outlook

February 21, 2025

Due to the significant amount of snow this winter season. There is a high potential for flooding based on the snow accumulation and potential heavy rain, snow melt, high wind and other conditions that could lead to high runoff, cause ice jams and flooding or erosion in spring. The Township will be placing sand & sandbags at the end of Park Rd, at the intersection of Simcoe St & Water St & the Angus Firehall early spring.

A Non-Statutory Public Meeting has been scheduled to take place in the Council Chambers at the Administration Centre located at 5786 County Road 21, Utopia, at approximately 6:00 pm on February 5, 2025, concerning a proposed Official Plan Amendment (OPA 47), Zoning By-law Amendment (Z15-23), and Site Plan Control Application (SP3-23), for the property known municipally as 8949 Smith Road.
