Canadian Forces Base Borden Exercise to Simulate Major Air Disaster Response

April 28, 2026– Borden, Ont. – National Defence / Canadian Armed Forces

Canadian Forces Base Borden will be conducting a simulated Major Air Disaster response exercise during the week of May 4-8, 2026. This exercise is conducted to validate Base Emergency Response Plans as mandated by the Canadian Armed Forces and Transport Canada. The intent of this exercise is to validate all responding agencies’ procedures and determine interoperability with local First Responders.

A plume of smoke will be seen emanating from the crash site. The Lisle gate will be closed for 30 minutes to complete an effective response.

An increased presence of Ontario Provincial Police, Essa Fire, and County of Simcoe Emergency Services vehicles and personnel on base and in the local area is to be expected. This event is purely for training purposes and at no time will safety or security be in jeopardy.
