Essa Township Appoints New Chief Administrative Officer

Utopia — March 27, 2024Essa Mayor and Council announced after a comprehensive search, Michael Mikael has become Essa Township’s new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). Michael began his new appointment on March 26, 2024. Essa Council and staff would like to congratulate Michael on his new appointment as CAO.

Michael has worked for Essa Township for the past 4 years as Manager of Public Works, Deputy CAO and as the Interim CAO since January 2024 when Colleen Healey-Dowdall resigned to take a position with the Provincial Government.

We are very fortunate to have such an excellent successor within our corporation.

Michael brings an impressive wealth of knowledge, organizational skills and experience to his job.

Michael is a designated Professional Civil Engineer in the province of Ontario (PEO) and Alberta (APEGA).  He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Engineering at Alexandria University, with a focus on Water and Wastewater Design through the University of Waterloo.  He has multiple certifications that will benefit the Township in his new role and is continuing his education in HR programs and certifications.

With his years of experience with Municipal Government, we look forward to hearing his plans and visions that will help Essa Township move forward and continue to grow and prosper.
