The Township of Essa offers a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces for you to host your next event. View rental opportunities below and complete a facility rental request to book a space.

Rental Fees

Please be advised that when renting our facilities, there is a cost required to be paid.  Fees are outlined in the Parks and Recreation Schedule of Fees.

Facilities Available to Rent

The following facilities and spaces are available to rent:

  • Offered in Angus and Thornton May-September
  • Perfect for lacrosse, ball hockey and large indoor events

Essa Public Library Meeting Rooms

  • The Angus Recreation Centre offers the rental of a rubber floor gymnasium that may be rented as a whole or divided into a half gym.
  • Rented for birthday parties or for sports such as volleyball, pickleball and basketball
  • Hall- Angus Recreation Centre, 8529 County Road 10, Angus
    • Reservable for up to 155 people with tables and chairs set up

  • The Township of Essa offers several picnic pavilions, outdoor pads, soccer fields and baseball diamonds to rent.

Alcohol is only permitted to be served at a licensed facility only. Individuals will require a Special Occasions Permit/Liquor. You will be required to provide the contact information of two Smart Serve certified servers. You are responsible for providing smart serve certified staff

Apply for an SOP at Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario

If you are playing music at your rental/event, SOCAN and Re-Sound fees will be applied to your rental. SOCAN and Re-Sound are Canadian not-for-profit music licensing music companies dedicated to obtaining fair compensation for artists, composers and record companies for their performance rights. The Township of Essa collects and remits these fees on behalf of SOCAN and Re-Sound.

To have a bouncy castle at your rental the inflatable company that you rent from must set up, monitor the use of and take down inflatable. They must also provide TSSA coverage. 5 million dollars of liability insurance must be provided. Any rentals using inflatables will need to provide their own insurance for their booking/activity naming the Township of Essa as an additional insured. You can reach out to your personal broker for assistance.

Rental including animals/reptiles are permitted with a licensed vendor upon staff approval and receipt of appropriate insurance documents.

  • Vendor insurance from the licensed vendor/animal company naming the Township of Essa as an additional insured is required for $2 million General Liability
  • The rental will also have facility rental insurance applied as part of the rental process when booking your facility space.
  • The vendor will be responsible for cleaning up after the animals and ensuring the space remains clean and in a usable condition.
