Planning & Development
Thinking of building or developing in Essa? If you're planning a new development or construction project in the Township of Essa, you may need to submit a planning application. A pre-consultation meeting is required before starting any project to ensure it meets all necessary planning and zoning requirements.
Be sure to review Essa’s Official Plan and Zoning By-law to confirm your project aligns with local land use policies. Projects must also follow upper-tier policies such as the County of Simcoe Official Plan, the Provincial Policy Statement, and the Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe.
Before beginning construction, contact the Manager of Planning and Development at 705-424-9917 ext. 111 or the Chief Building Official at 705-424-9917 ext. 129 to determine what approvals are needed.
All development in Essa must comply with the Official Plan, Zoning By-law, and Building By-law
